Being pet-friendly

New rental website...Same, same but better

Dear [#First Name] :

Last month we kicked off our series on risk management by revealing the gaping insurance hole that exists in many standard domestic insurance policies with the article Got insurance? (No, really).

Right on queue this article appeared in the NZ Herald last week about a crime syndicate that rents motels and baches to use as a base for manufacturing the drug "P" (Methyl Amphetamine). So, this month we look at practical tips for screening guests and ways you can hopefully avoid unwanted guests.

Our Special Deals email this week re-visited that ol' marketing chestnut: pet-friendly holidays. We received a fantastic response out of this so we thought we'd revise our article on how to make your property pet-friendly. Being able to take your pooch with you is one thing that sets bach-holidays apart from a stay at (most) hotels or motels.

All the best,

- Peter and the AA Bookabach team

Now's the time to make your intentions clear for summer. Make sure you get your family bookings on the calendar. Do this and you'll maximize your rental around available dates.

How to screen (vet) guests

Screening

When you’re renting out your bach or holiday home, you’re in an entirely different position to that of a motel or hotel proprietor. It may be your second home, but you’re not going to be on the premises to check that your guests are treating it with respect.

Renters are aware of this, so they’re going to expect some degree of screening before their booking is accepted.

New rental website: Same, same... but better!

Initio

The jury's out; the new www.bookabach.co.nz website is performing better than the old site (based on "look-to-book" conversion). We'll continue to tweak performance of the website over the coming months. If you haven't had a chance to check out your property in the new format we suggest you do before the October seasonal rush hits.

We still have some very old, very low-resolution images on a number of the older listings. We'd dearly love to see these updated...
